Men’s Life is modeled after the highly successful program, Men’s Fraternity, originated in 1990 by Dr Robert Lewis. In the Fall of 2003 the program series was brought to Houston, sponsored by the men of MDPC. The program uses the name, Men’s Life, but the curricula and format is the same as developed by Dr. Lewis. Over 500 men (from over 40 churches and some not from any church)participated the first year in The Quest for Authentic Manhood (In 2004 over 300 men participated at MDPC, from almost 80 churches)
Due to this rapid and overwhelming success, MDPC helped three other churches launch programs in the Fall of 2004 – Tallowood Baptist, Lakewood Church, and University Baptist), in addition to adding a program in downtown Houston at the Houston Center Club. It has become more widespread in Houston every year since, with as many as 40 churches participating in 2006. The success of Men’s Life throughout Houston not only validates the message delivered but also indicates that it satisfies an unmet need for both instruction and connection. Something real is drawing men to seek a deeper meaning in their lives. Men’s Life helps clarify God’s intended purpose for men and enables each participant to create a custom manhood plan. In September 2008, there will be numerous venues throughout the city and surrounding areas of Houston where you can participate in a Men’s Life program (see link to Program Locations.) MDPC will be exclusively offering a new curriculum Integrity in the Workplace while other locations will offer curriculum from the Men’s Fraternity series, Winning at Home and at Work, The Quest for Authentic Manhood and The Great Adventure. Please join us at a site convenient to you. What is Men’s Fraternity?
Men’s Fraternity is a series of three studies which provide men with an encouraging process that teaches them how to live lives of authentic manhood as modeled by Jesus Christ and directed by the Word of God. The curriculums were designed to help men come together and strengthen each other through weekly sessions that combine biblical teaching and small group interaction. These time-tested resources have been used all over the world to equip men to make their pursuit of noble manhood a lifelong priority.
The Original Men's Fraternity was created by Robert Lewis, pastor-at-large of Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock, Arkansas and author of Raising a Modern Day Knight. It began in 1990 with 30 participants as Robert strived to connect with and challenge the men of his church. Today, the Men’s Fraternity curriculum is reaching men worldwide in churches, college campuses, corporate boardrooms and prison cellblocks. Over the years it has developed into a series of studies designed to engage the heart as well as the mind, stripping away the myths of manhood, and focusing on how each individual can be transformed into a true man of God.
The Goal
Imagine the transforming power of men coming together within your church and community to honestly examine their lives and take the courageous steps necessary to embrace authentic manhood on a journey to become who God intends them to be. That is the goal of Men’s Fraternity. When men connect in life-changing ways, a powerful ripple effect touches families, workplaces, as well as the church and community. Deeper connections with God and other men inspire participants to connect more meaningfully in all facets of their lives. They climb beyond the walls of isolation and aspire to a biblical viewpoint marked by integrity, boldness, and compassion. Through this powerful series, men learn to reject passivity, accept responsibility, lead courageously, and expect God’s greater reward.
The Format
The format is simple: Men come together for fellowship, then have a teaching session, followed by small group interaction in an environment where men are free to talk openly and confidentially about what they heard and express mutual support for one another .
The True Power
The true power of Men’s Fraternity lies in bringing men together on common ground to learn together and listen to each other. Bonds of true God-centered friendships are formed as men encourage each other week- by-week to more fully embrace a godly view of manhood.
